These Terms & Conditions apply to all bespoke butter dish commissions made with Abigail Featherstone. Terms & Conditions
NATURE OF BESPOKE ARTWORK
All butter dishes are handmade to order and bespoke. Due to the nature of ceramics and hand‑building processes, each piece will vary slightly in shape, size, glaze finish, colour, and surface texture. Minor imperfections, variations, and marks are part of the character of handmade work and are not considered faults, but rather add charm to the bespoke nature of the piece.
Please understand that imperfections are a part of the pottery process, and I cannot make a perfect replica of your dog. Hairline cracks under the glaze may appear during the final firing, and tiny chips may occur. All of these imperfections will be discounted by £5 at my discretion. The only time I will remake your butter dish due to imperfections is if the dish is completely dysfunctional.
DEPOSIT
In order to secure your place in line for a bespoke butter dish, I require a non-refundable £40 deposit. The deposit covers the cost of materials and firing before I have paid myself for my labour. Please be aware that the deposit is not the full price. Once you have paid the deposit and filled in the form, you will receive a confirmation from me, and at that point, the contract becomes legally binding.

The full price and additional postage must be paid before the dispatch of your bespoke butter dish.
WAIT TIMES
Monthly batch times are estimates only and may vary due to drying times, firing schedules, glaze testing, or unforeseen issues such as kiln failure. I will always aim to have your bespoke piece made and ready by the following month of order and will communicate any significant delays as soon as reasonably possible.
I am not responsible for delays caused by circumstances outside of my control (see Force Majeure).
PRICES
All prices are agreed before the start of work and cannot be changed. Prices reflect the time, skill, materials, and firing costs involved in creating bespoke ceramic work. Prices may change for future commissions, but will not affect confirmed orders.

As my bespoke butter dishes have vastly grown in popularity, I have increased the price. This means that I can do this as my full-time job and run my own studio. My bespoke butter dishes are £98 plus postage and packaging for one dog on top and £115 plus postage and packaging for two dogs.

I do not accept returns or refunds for commissioned work.

Exceptions:
If your item arrives damaged in transit, you must notify me within 48 hours of delivery, providing clear photographs of the damage and packaging. Unfortunately, I cannot accept responsibility for dishes that are broken in the post. In the rare event of a dish breakage, please take a photo of the broken dish as soon as you open it, and then I will help you process a claim with Royal Mail to get your money back.
If an item is found to be faulty (excluding natural variations in handmade work), you must contact me within 7 days of receipt.
Where appropriate, I will offer a replacement or a refund at my discretion, in line with UK consumer law.
DESIGN DETAILS
Design details must be finalised before production begins. Please make sure to send me photos or videos of all of your dog's significant markings and include all legs, tail, left side and right side of the body and head.

Once work has started, changes may not be possible. If changes are agreed after work has begun, additional costs may apply, and wait times may be extended.
CANCELLATIONS
If you cancel your order after paying a deposit, the deposit is non‑refundable.
If cancellation occurs after production has started, you may be liable for the full cost of the piece.
I reserve the right to cancel an order at any stage if I am unable to complete the work for technical or practical reasons. In this case, any payments made (excluding completed work) will be refunded.
DELIVERY
Delivery times are estimates and not guaranteed. I will aim to package and post your bespoke piece once I have received full payment. I cannot be held responsible for delays caused by postal services. Risk passes to the customer once the piece has been dispatched.
As pottery must be well-packaged to post, I have had to increase my packaging and postage prices. This will be £6.50. They are posted with Royal Mail 48 Tracked service. The additional money is to cover the cost of packaging, as I use bubble wrap, tissue paper, corrugated cardboard, parcel tape, fragile tape, and cardboard to aid your butter dish in travelling safely.

I always use Royal Mail to deliver my orders. This is because they are the most reliable and deliver to more remote British islands. Unfortunately, I am unable to sell my work in the EU and the USA. This is due to new Brexit regulations and new shipping tariffs. The amount of paperwork that is needed to sell in the US has made it too difficult for me to conduct buisness. Please do not place an international order without contacting me first, as orders to Asia, Australia and Africa will have higher postage rates.

LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law, my total liability for any claim arising out of or in connection with your order shall not exceed the total amount paid for the bespoke butter dish.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
FORCE MAJEURE
I shall not be liable for failure or delay in performing my obligations where such failure or delay results from events beyond my reasonable control, including but not limited to kiln failure, material shortages, postal strikes, extreme weather, fire, or other unforeseen circumstances.
PRIVACY & DATA PROTECTION
I collect and use personal information solely for the purpose of fulfilling your order and communicating with you. All personal data is handled in accordance with my Privacy Policy, available on my website. I may share photos of the work in progress on your butter dish, but you will never be named. I may share your first name and your finished commission on social media and my website blog if you do not respond to emails as an attempt to try and reach you.
GOVERNING LAW
These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
