February - 2026

This has been the most hectic, busiest month of possibly my life!

I moved house at the very beginning of the month, to Malton. Our new house is still under renovation, but it is getting there slowly. I have been busy setting up my new studio and a home office this week, ready to move my buisness too.

My new kiln required some custom-made elements, which I had made by the manufacturer of my kiln, which is based in South Africa. There were a whole load of customs complications (Thank you, Brexit! *Sarcasm*) BUT, I now have elements for my kiln and custom-made extraction (Thank you, Dad! *Non sarcasm*) fitted and ready to go. I will be test-firing my stained slips and glaze combos this month to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Amongst all the fun of setting up my new studio and kiln, I ran into complications with the gallery kiln that I have used without complications for the past 3 years! My final ever glaze firing at the gallery cut all the main power to the building. I scratched my head, replaced a weary-looking element and hoped I had solved the issue. This was not the case. Luckily, I had a very good electrician diagnose the problem. Thankfully, the fault was with the extractor and not the kiln itself. The January batch is delayed, but should be ready soon!

However, the kiln is now on, and hopefully my January batch will be ready to post out next week. Due to delays and moving, there will be no February batch. Everything this month is preparing me for the rest of the year, making bespoke butter dishes! Here is hoping that everything runs smoothly, ready for me to officially open my waiting list again in March.
